How about spine?
Those of us that have been around a while (even if we are quiet) remember the initial concept of a C based poller being called spine. Want to revive the name or is their bad blood that I do not know about?

cacti-0.8.6f.tar.gz missing cactid source?
I downloaded cacti-0.8.6f.tar.gz this week and it does not seem to have the cactid source in it. I have not done an install in quite a while so am I forgetting where the cactid source comes from or has it been removed from Cacti?
Thanks
Thanks

Perhaps they have fixed it in 5.3. All of the boxes I have to work with are 4.8-4.10. They way I calculated the number of ticks was to walk the box at .1.3.6.1.4.1.2021.11, grep out the ssCpuRaw lines, and added their values. I then performed the same operation 60 seconds later, determined the delta...

I would be willing to bet it is a simple matter or horsepower. You are compairing a Dual PIII 750Mhz (1.5Ghz total) to a single Ultra IIi 440MHz. also keep in mind that Sol7 was not exactly their greatest release. We can get down into memory architetures, SPARC/RISC vs. Intel, disk subsystems, etc. ...

Once again - the thick plottens
Another setback - HyperThreading It appears that HyperThreading CPU's are also causing issues with timeticks. I have now created an additional BSD Template the uses additional CDEF's to divide everything by 2.56 to account for the 256 timeticks per second that is reported on a Dell 2550 with Dual Pe...

Two more things
You will also need to modify your "ucd/net - CPU Usage - type " data templates to have a max value that incorporates the 128 time ticks. (or 200, 400, etc for SMP Linux hosts) I have set this to 130 for now. After modifying these templates the rrd files need to be updated with the new max....

Check your MIBs
Rob,
You need to ensure that the snmp daemon on your HPUX server has that MIB installed on it. Check the documentation of the snmp daemon for instructions on how to do so.

Temporary? Workaround
I have a temporary work around for anyone who is interested. What I have done is made a BSD specific CPU graph template. I also created two new CDEF's. One CDEF divides the current data source by 1.28 and the other divides all data sources without duplicates by 1.28. I then applied the appropriate C...

Monitoring CPU Statistics
Where does the CPU statistic data templates perform the math to convert the ssCPURaw counters into percentages? The problem I am having is that FreeBSD/Net-SNMP reports 128 ticks per second as opposed to the "standard" 100 ticks per second. Many of the Linux hosts in our network with a SMP...

I have made it work on Solaris 8 in the past
But that was a long time ago at another life (job)............. It looks like you are having an issue with the data collection more than the actual graphing. I think rrdtool is barfing because you are trying to graph "null" values. Try using rrdtool to examine your rrd files ( $CACTIHOME/r...

Linux SMP - NET-SNMP - CACTI
I am trying to monitor a few Linux servers that have a SMP kernel installed to support dual processors. They are all sunning Net-SNMP 5.x and at least 2.4 or higher kernel levels. It appears that the NET-SNMP daemon is reporting each timetick from each CPU in its ssCPURaw counters. This means that i...

Need a function in RPN for average
Here's what I need to do. I want to create a CDEF that will take the average of all the sources on a graph, multiply by -1, and then add 100. The purpose is to take the idle time of CPU's, average them, and then take the total out of 100 to give me the busy time of the CPU. I am working with a CPU t...

Any word on this? Is there somewhere were you define your default graph options or are you allowing RRD to use it's built in defaults? What I want to accomplish is to make the backgroud of each graph black and make all of the text/lines white or grey. Could I do this in the rrd_functions.php file pe...
